GoDaddy Inc's shares rose as much as 34 percent in their debut on Wednesday following a $460 million initial public offering, as investors spotted a bargain in a company making a shift from Internet domains to small-business services. Founded 18 years ago by Bob Parsons, GoDaddy is hardly a technology start-up, yet investors snapped up its shares in the first day of trading, betting the company can grow further by providing tools to small businesses. "Even though GoDaddy is almost 20 years old, it's a growth company and it's cash flow-positive, which is what investors are interested in," said Jackie Kelley, global and Americas IPO leader for Ernst & Young. more...

By Jeff Mason and Andrea Shalal WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama launched a new sanctions program on Wednesday to target individuals and groups outside the United States that use "malicious" cyber attacks to threaten U.S. foreign policy, national security or economic stability. In an executive order, Obama declared such activities a "national emergency" and allowed the U.S. Treasury Department to freeze the assets and bar other financial transactions of entities engaged in destructive cyber attacks. The executive order gives the administration the same sanctions tools it now deploys to address other threats - including crises in the Middle East and Russia's aggression in Ukraine - and makes them available for less visible cyber threats. It also follows a string of cyber attacks aimed at Target, Home Depot and other retailers, as well as military networks. more...

By Dena Aubin NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices must face claims that it committed securities fraud by hiding problems with the 2011 launch of a new computer processor that eventually led to a $100 million writedown, a federal judge in Oakland, California, ruled. In an order on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzales Rogers said plaintiffs have supported their claims that Advanced Micro officials misled them by stating in the spring of 2011 that problems with the new processor were in the past. Plaintiffs' lawyer Jonathan Gardner said he was pleased with the decision. Lawyers for Advanced Micro could not immediately be reached for comment. more...

(Reuters) - Online retailer Amazon.com Inc has launched a hardware that allows its Prime members to order a product by pushing a button. The 'Dash button', which is connected with the Amazon app through Wi-Fi, is brand specific and the company has tied up with household names such as Tide, Huggies and Gillette. Reuters had reported in September that Amazon would boost staffing at its secretive Silicon Valley-based hardware unit as it tests Internet-connected "smart" home gadgets. more...
